In our systematic review and meta-analysis evaluating the clinical efficacy and safety of combinations of DPP-4 inhibitors and SGLT2 inhibitors in patients with inadequately controlled type 2 diabetes, the combination of an SGLT2 inhibitor and a DPP-4 inhibitor showed a greater reduction in HbA1c (weighted mean difference, 0.6%), fasting plasma glucose, and 2-hour postprandial plasma glucose levels than the combination of a placebo with a DPP-4 inhibitor [47]
