本期的專輯「台灣史：焦慮與自信」，有許雪姬的台灣史研究三部曲：由鮮學經顯學到險學，探討因論述多於考訂，造成史家失去了應有的技藝，使歷史學成為沒有特色的學門；有莫達明的台灣本土史學的建構與發展 (1972-2004)，討論民主轉換與台灣人民自決之嚮往解釋了1980年代由台灣史學所帶起之轉折點，敘事方式漸次擺脫地方史的範疇，逐步地趨向國家歷史的類型。有張隆志的婆娑洋畔、美麗島間：學院台灣史研究札記，探討學院台灣史家面對當代台灣史高度政治化的言論情境，以及國族建構、後殖民差異、轉型正義與全球化等實踐課題，如何超越歷史時空錯置和狹隘地域心態？也有楊照的建立衡量台灣史深度與廣度的標尺，述及台灣史可深可廣，然而我們到現在都尚未真正針對台灣史，建立一套衡量其深度廣度的標尺。本期還有「思想評論」、「思想訪談」、「思想人生」、「思想采風」等多篇精采的文章，提供讀者更多樣的思想風貌。
