This ring features my hand painted hot enamel painting of a tornado descending upon a tiny farm

I created the enameled scene by "painting" with powdered glass on copper using tiny brushes and needles

Signed and dated brass accent tag at clasp

I could no longer escape the symbol of the skull as a reminder of the precious brevity of life in my work

Shadows cut at strange angles, and the flowers were too bright like in a memory, or a dream. As the pandemic spread and my anxiety rose, I found myself thinking often of my happy childhood in rural Ohio, and the lilacs on my grandmother's farm.
